One of the first thoughts racing through my mind when I took the first step inside the Dior venue for the brand's Haute Couture show yesterday was: I feel really bad for the person in charge of the budget (if there's such a thing as a budget when it comes to Dior) when someone proposed the idea of covering every single centimeter of every wall in beautiful, luscious orchids... But perhaps that's nothing to worry about when it's Dior we're talking about (after all, I shouldn't expect anything less after their igloo/cave moment last year). Either way, the venue dressed in all white – and the millions of orchids covering the walls – blew my
socks Chanel ballet flats off. It was everything I had hoped for, and more.
There were so many highlights during yesterday that I don't even know where to begin... The show being held at Musée Rodin (my favourite museum in Paris), seeing my very own name on a Haute Couture invitation, getting to go backstage, sitting across from Charlize Theron and Sean Penn and witnessing pure magic walking down the runway were all moments of absolute happiness.
The focus should of course be on the clothing and accessories but I can't help but to appreciate the designers who take their time and build a whole world around it as well. Together with the music they create an atmosphere that has me thinking about the show for hours and hours after it's over. When I said that I was entering the magical world of Dior, I truly meant it.
