The Year 2014
I feel as though I sound like a broken record when I say that 2014 has been the most incredible year so far, but it really has. Cover your ears because more clichés and cheesiness are coming your way! I've managed to make a little home for myself, worked on more exciting projects than I could have ever imagined, met the loves of my life (my bestest friends) and have had adventures greater than ever before. I've had the time of my life and I will just call myself lucky if 2015 turns out to be half as good as 2014 has been. To remember everything I've experienced and what has happened during the year, I love going through old photos and thought I'd share a little recap with you all. Happy New Year!
January – The year started with apartment problems once I arrived back in Paris after spending the Holidays in Stockholm but it improved quickly when Nicole and I took off to Florence for a fun job. I loved seeing this Italian city for the very first time and get to shoot pieces like this pink Stella McCartney dress that I fell head over heels in love with. Back in Paris I moved into a temporary but charming little apartment in Saint-Germain and started exploring the city further, one pastry shop at a time.
February – In February Nicole and I travelled to New York for a couple of weeks – for fashion week but also to get shoots and meetings done. I loved seeing the city covered in freshly fallen snow for the very first time and capturing it through photos. New York is a city like no other and I almost always feel an urge urge to go back as soon as I've left. Since frozen fingers and snowstorms you barely can stand up straight in isn't really my thing I might go for spring this time around...
March – Once I arrived back in Paris in late February the city was already in bloom and I couldn't believe my eyes. This year's spring has to be the earliest one Paris has ever seen! Although when the time for Paris fashion week arrived the temperatures dropped of course (something I remember since I had problems keeping my fingers alive while shooting outside). I moved into yet another little Parisian apartment where I stayed until late June.
April – In April I went completely mad for all the trees that were in bloom and ended up with around 3,000 photos from a colourful Jardin des Plantes after a short visit. I helped friends move into new apartments, celebrated birthdays and explored Paris on the back of a Vespa for the first time. The nights were spent drinking wine with dear friends and longing for summer and warmer days.
May – May came around and I shot many exciting projects once the city decided to stop with the shananigans and give us some sun (and even though it didn't). I loved capturing Jenny while in Paris and was more than honoured when Vanity Fair decided to repost one of our shots. My photography print collaboration together with SS Print Shop was launched and it was incredible seeing my photos printed for the very first time. I started looking for a more permanent living situation and ended up visiting crappier apartments than I've ever seen before before I struck gold.
June – June was a big month for me as I moved into my very first long term rental apartment here in Paris. Unfurnished should be added to that sentence as well! I visited several interior decoration shops and was for the first time in my life able to decorate it exactly how I wanted it (although I'm still without proper chairs, shelfs and storage units so perhaps this wasn't such a great thing after all...). I visited Ralph's way too many times and couldn't resist the perfect ballet flats from Chanel as a little treat to myself.
July – After staying in my apartment for a few nights I invited my friends over for a little housewarming that ended up being one of the loveliest night ever on one of the hottest days in the city. Shortly after I attended the most beautiful fashion show I've yet to seen by Dior Haute Couture, which is something I'll remember forever. For my summer vacation I went to Terracina and Rome in Italy, two of my favourite places on this planet and got to see old friends I had missed so dearly.
August – The rain arrived in Paris together with myself and August felt more like November than anything else. The beginning of the month was spent in Stockholm, visiting my family and catching up with friends. The rest of the month I pretty much tried to stay dry while surviving a completely shut down Paris since every single French is on vacation (mental note for 2015!).
September – When the calendar marked the 1st of September everyone suddenly came back to work and within a few seconds I was behind on emails. I made new friends, who I wish lived much closer and photographed for Dior's social media channels – a job that made my knees feel weak. Paris fashion week came around once again and even though it was one of the most stressful times during the year (and probably gave me a minor ulcer) I loved every single minute of it, as always.
October – Paris fashion week lasted into October and ended with Louis Vuitton's show at the new Louis Vuitton Fondation. The memory of sitting front row and watching those models stomp down the runway in that magical light still gives me goosebumps... Shortly after fashion week ended I was on the plane heading to Nice to shoot an exciting article for Conde Nast Traveler. I can't wait to see it in real life as it's supposed to hit the stores in January!
November – In November I celebrated turning 23 with breakfast at Ladurée, lunch at Carette and dinner and drinks together with friends at one of my favourite bars. I couldn't have asked for a better day since I got to see so many of the people I hold so close to my heart. Shooting an exciting project for Elie Saab (something that I'll be able to share more from later in January) was also a highlight that month together with a breakfast to welcome J.Crew (in March) to The City of Light.
December – The month of December has just come to an end and I can't believe how quickly this year has passed. The quickest so far for sure. Before I flew off to Bali together with my sister I shot a little story for Gucci with Paris and pastel colours as my inspiration. I also got to share a few Parisian favourites together with a new favourite brand of mine: Sézane. A couple of days ago we arrived in Australia where we've celebrated both Christmas and New Years with some of the loveliest people ever. I'm so excited to start 2015 here in Sydney and I can't wait to see what Paris has in store for me once I arrive back home.
