All jewellery: David Yurman
To photograph this story for David Yurman in black and white was a no brainer. After seeing familiar faces like Kate Moss, Gisele Bündchen and Kate Upton appear in the brand’s ads and grace the pages of Vogue and other prestigious fashion magazine throughout the years, I knew I wanted to give it a go. It was a pleasure to drop by David Yurman‘s newly opened store in Galeries Lafayette to pick out the pieces I was photographing for this job and also to find out more about the history behind the company and what they stand for. Hearing the stories and seeing what inspired the pieces is always important to get a better understanding of the brand’s DNA – and in this case it just happens to be one of the sweetest love stories to date. You recognise their signature cable bracelets? Well, these entwined cables, which you’ll find somewhere in almost everything they design, represent the fact that several pieces of material, or people, are stronger together than on their own. Too sweet, right?
Enough with the sobby love stories (although I can never have enough of this…) and back to the photographs. I wanted to photograph these pieces in the most delicate and pure way possible and let the jewellery speak for itself. I would kill (well, not really) for this stack of bracelets that glimmered so prettily in the morning sun while shooting this story.
