I remember that my promise to myself this year was to see more of France. I can’t say that I’ve done brilliantly with this but I’ve certainly seen more than when the year started. One of the places I’ve always wanted to visit has been Bordeaux so when this assignment came up I jumped at the chance to see this region for the first time. The fact that this was together with Chateau d’Yquem, one of the most prestigious wineries in France, was definitely a bonus.

During a couple of days we got to learn so much about winemaking, the history behind this iconic place (I mean do you see the bottles from 1936 above? That was just a tiny little part of the historic cellar) and meet the people who are so passionated about what they do. As a part of the LVMH family, the whole castle had little Dior details sprinkled around it and the we went to bed (completely alone in an entire castle) I couldn’t help but to lay awake thinking about how special this place is. Some of these experiences are almost too overwhelming to take in… The food we enjoyed throughout this trip was out of this world and it made it so very special to share this experience not only with my photographer Hana, but also along with my sister. For a minute there we got to pretend to live in a castle (oh my god the rooms were just the definition of a princess dream) and live out our inner royal dreams.

A huge thank you to Chateau d’Yquem for taking us on this very special journey and teaching us more about this place.
